This is the ABC for successful social science studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University! The Academic Boosting Class consists of two workshops that you can attend independently of each other. If you attend both workshops and complete the coursework, you will receive 3 ECTS.
The first workshop "Make a flying start: Studying social sciences in Mainz" will take place on two appointments, October 22 and October 27. Here you will be provided with everything you need during the semester. We will explain how academic courses at FB02 usually work and what expectations your lecturers may have. You will find out where to get the seminar literature and how to give a good presentation. Of course, you can also clarify all your questions and - last but not least - you can network with your peers so that your semester is not only successful but also fun.
The second workshop "Term papers: Academic writing for internationals" will take place on February 7 and February 22. It will help you to successfully complete your stay in Mainz and return home with good grades. We will discuss the common requirements for "Hausarbeiten” (term papers), help you to find and correctly use suitable literature and develop an outline. You can also clarify remaining questions and receive individual guidance.
