This Summer School will focus on the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, with an emphasis on conflict research and international law. Key topics include responses by international actors, peace processes, dealing with war crimes and reconstruction plans.
The programme is aimed not only at students from our partner universities in Finland, France, the UK, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain, but also at students from Ukraine. This special setting enables international academic exchange on a current topic of global political relevance.
The interdisciplinary summer school invites students of all fields of social sciences including political science, psychology, communication science, journalism, sociology or educational science as well as other related disciplines.

Application Procedure
After the end of the application phase and after viewing all applications we will select candidates for an online interview. Those who are not chosen for an interview will be informed of this decision without delay.
The interview candidates are invited to meet us at a yet to be determined time in an online meeting via an online conference call platform. During this meeting we will introduce ourselves and the program in more detail. We also would like to gauge your English language abilities and get to know you. About a week after the last interview has taken place, we will select all participants and inform you of the selection results via email. We expect to receive applications from more suitable and qualified students than we can accomodate. Not being selected right away is not the end of your chances to participate. There will be a waiting list for all candidates who were deemed suitable for the summer school but not chosen in this first selection round.
If you have questions about the selection procedure please contact us at sowiso@uni-mainz.de
